An Instructor's First Step Towards Teaching Technical Diving 40m/132ft
This program qualifies the RAID Open Circuit Instructor to teach divers to dive to 40 meters / 130 feet on mixed gas (Oxygen, & Nitrogen) and complete dives with mandatory decompression stop requirement for up to maximum of 30 minutes.
The Programme Employs The Following Gasses
- Oxygen enriched gas (EANx / Nitrox) mixes from 21% to a maximum of 50% oxygen content.
- A maximum PpO2 of 1.4 at the MOD.
- A maximum PpO2 of 1.6 at at the maximum depth of a required staged decompression stop.
Instructor Prerequisites
- To be a minimum of 18 years old.
- To be certified diver for at least 12 months.
- Certified RAID Open Circuit Decompression Procedure diver or equivalent certification/s (of which at least 25 hours are between 35 - 45 m/115 -148 ft) and/or equivalent.
- Certified RAID Open Circuit Nitrox Instructor.
- Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR/BLS Training and Oxygen Provider Instructor certificate/s (DAN/equivalent).
- To have a minimum of 80 logged underwater hours using open circuit scuba equipment. These hours must be logged in your personal RAID Logbook.
Instructor Cross Over Prerequisites
- To be a minimum of 18 years old.
- To be certified diver for at least 12 months.
- Certified Renewed Open Circuit or Rebreather Decompression Procedures (equivalent) Instructor.
- Certified RAID Open Circuit Nitrox Instructor.
- Submit a current Rescue Breathing/CPR/BLS Training and Oxygen Provider Instructor certificate/s (DAN/equivalent).
- To have a minimum of 80 logged underwater hours using open circuit scuba equipment. These hours must be logged in your personal RAID Logbook.
NOTE: The above does not guarantee acceptance by RAID who has the sole decision to accept or ask for further requirements to be met.

- Review the Instructor Guidelines for Decompression Procedures Speciality
- Master practical skills as detailed
- Confined water and open water sessions, totalling a minimum of 4 hours underwater
Equipment Requirements
For this course you will be required to have use of the following:
- Gas volume shall be no less than 2760 lt / 98 cu ft.
- Single cylinder pillar valve shall have an H or Y valve and manifold Twin set with islolater (DIN).
- 2 x first stages
- 2 x second stages
- 1 x SPG
- 1 x 2m/6.5ft LP second stage hose
- 1 x BCD/wing LP hose
- 1 x Drysuit inflator hose if applicable
- 1 x mixed multi gas Nitrox dive computer
- 1 x dive timer or enriched air (two Nitrox gases) computer or mixed gas dive computer
- 1 x slate
- 2 x SMBs and reels
- 1 x knife
- 2 x dive masks
- 1 x torch/light/underwater lamp
- 1 x BCD/wing with adequate lift capacity
- 1 x exposure suit - a dry suit shall have interchangeable inflator system with BCD LP hose
- 1 x Side Sling Cylinder (minimum gas volume shall be 1000 lt / 35.33 cu ft)
- 1 x first stage
- 1 x second stage
- 1 x SPG
- 1 x Octo length LP second stage hose
Certification
- Upon successful certification the member may offer diver training commensurate with this level of certification as sanctioned by RAID.
