The Independent course is a no-decompression recreational program that can be plugged into RAID’s course flow in several places. For example, our strong suggestion is that any leadership candidate think seriously about adding this course as prerequisite training before making the leap from experienced diver to divemaster or instructor.

Also, this Independent course is a great idea if you are an experienced diver who has young family starting to make noises about wanting to dive, or who’s partner is a less experienced diver, with whom you wish to enjoy diving adventures.

This is also the perfect course for photographers, videographers, and anyone who accompanies them on a dive!

But the primary audience, the divers we had in mind when we decided to create this course, is anyone who are happy to learn new skills and find comfort in being the best buddy possible. And as you work through this manual, and the associated workshop and dives, we know you’ll agree with us.
