RAID New Tech Pathway #3

NORMOXIC TRIMIX: EQUIPMENT INTENSIVE AND HANDFULS OF RESPONSIBILITY There are dive sites that demand a high level of skill and experience from visitors, and divers at this level have earned those rights. This open circuit technical program teaches the use of a helium-based bottom mix with a minimum oxygen content of 18 percent.that can be breathed from the surface to a maximum target depth of 60 metres using twinset or sidemount primary cylinder configurations. Divers on this course use three optimized decompression gases, including up to 100% oxygen for efficient off-gassing. Staged ascents must be perfectly timed with controlled gas switches and excellent team communications. Contact your local RAID Dive Centre for details. Visit RAID FREe-Learning to read more. Next step: HYPOOXIC TRIMIX #4 in New Tech Pathway. Recommended prerequisite course: ADVANCED DECOMPRESSION #2 OVERVIEW OF COURSE S

HYPOXIC TRIMIX TO 80 and 100 METRES… ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM HYPOXIC TRIMIX represents the ultimate challenge and ultimate reward for a RAID OC technical diver. Our fourth-level technical / decompression diver course is equally suitable for twinset or sidemount divers ready to step up to the current limit of RAID’s diver training. Hypoxic divers can carry as many as four stage cylinders with decompression gases, including a travel mix and 100% oxygen. The travel mix is required because managing oxygen toxicity at the target depths calls for backgas to contain less than 18 percent oxygen, which may not be breathed on the surface. Available in two levels: 80 metres | 100 metres. Contact your local RAID Dive Centre for details. Visit RAID FREe-Learning to read more. Recommended prerequisite course: NORMOXIC TRIMIX #3 OVERVIEW OF COURSE STANDARDS This course is designed to train Students to saf

ADVANCED DECOMPRESSION: TWO DECO GASES AND 50 METRES… EPIC This course is the next logical step in RAID’s development of its technical divers. More advanced planning and careful choices around meticulous choices of gear, team responsibilities, and approach to dive sites well beyond recreational limits and skills. ADVANCED DECOMPRESSION teaches students how best to conduct a complex ascent from depth while optimising off-gassing during mandatory decompression stops using two decompression gases, including 100 percent oxygen.. This newly written program emphasizes modern technical diving skills, the most recently adopted safety protocols, equipment setup, and the pinpoint neutral buoyancy management necessary for effective decompression. RAID ADVANCED DECOMPRESSION is offered in two options: 50 metres air and nitrox | 50 metres air, nitrox, trimix, and is available to divers in twinset or sidem

RAID New Tech Pathway #1

DECOMPRESSION: THIS IS WHERE THE ADVENTURE STARTS TO GET REAL This ‘first step’ across the threshold from advanced recreational and into the realm of technical diving is a three-cylinder course: two primaries (a twinest or sidemount) plus one stage bottle filled with a decompression gas to optimize off-gassing during a staged, optimized ascent. The decompression gas can be any reasonable mixture, including 100 percent oxygen. It’s the logical way for a diver to build a solid foundation of skills and knowledge and is a gentle introduction to the vagaries of staying at depth beyond the no-decompression limits… these include added thermal stress, increased reliance on solid dive planning and buddy communications, plus starting to build a thorough practical knowledge of decompression stressors and how to mitigate them. RAID’s reputation for excellent skills-based training makes this entry-level d

NITROX PLUS… COME ON IN, THE WATER’S LOVELY So, this is a good time for us to admit that our NITROX PLUS course is not really a technical diving program. That’s one reason it carries the #0 designation. That and because there are zero reasons NOT to add this course to every recreational diver’s bucket list. NITROX PLUS is not about decompression or diving deeper or loading up on masses of extra gear. It is simply about keeping the adventure real and diving with an extra layer of safety. We feel comfortable including it in our new tech pathway because the focus of the course is to carry backup gas available via a redundant delivery system. This additional gas is not decompression gas, and certainly not gas that’s part of the dive’s overall gas management plan, and it’s not to gain more bottom time. The redundant gas that’s there in case your “primary” system fails at depth. If there is anythin

November is First Aid Month at RAID

First aid training is a must-have for anyone involved in outdoor adventures… especially diving. The RAID first aid course equips students with the basic skills to handle injuries and emergencies when professional help is far away. Unlike urban adventures, outdoor settings are unpredictable. The risk of accidents like sprains, fractures, and hypothermia are increased. Always be prepared with RAID First Aid and CPR when you and your buddies are: Far from Professional Help. Faced With Unpredictable Factors. Subject to Specific Risks. Have Limited Communication. With RAID training, you may preserve life, prevent further harm, and help ensure the best outcome until rescue.
