Never second-guess the rules.

The safe way to make a visual jump when cave diving… Don’t Every open-water diver knows that the first rule of scuba is: don’t hold your breath. Always have plenty of something to breathe, so you don’t have to hold your breath. In essence, the same basic advice, but more detailed. Cavern and cave divers have rules too; most of them are adapted from (and piled on top of) those from all the prerequisite courses.   But some are unique to the overhead environment. The first is: Always maintain contact with a continuous line to a known exit. For non-overhead environment divers, here’s a brief explanation of what that means.   You may already know that cavern and cave divers follow a piece of string – a guideline – when they’re swimming around. In most cases, certainly in the caverns and caves publicly listed as potential dive sites, this permanent guideline is already installed. Its upkeep and mai

NORMOXIC TRIMIX: EQUIPMENT INTENSIVE AND HANDFULS OF RESPONSIBILITY There are dive sites that demand a high level of skill and experience from visitors, and divers at this level have earned those rights. This open circuit technical program teaches the use of a helium-based bottom mix with a minimum oxygen content of 18 percent.that can be breathed from the surface to a maximum target depth of 60 metres using twinset or sidemount primary cylinder configurations. Divers on this course use three optimized decompression gases, including up to 100% oxygen for efficient off-gassing. Staged ascents must be perfectly timed with controlled gas switches and excellent team communications. Contact your local RAID Dive Centre for details. Visit RAID FREe-Learning to read more. Next step: HYPOOXIC TRIMIX #4 in New Tech Pathway. Recommended prerequisite course: ADVANCED DECOMPRESSION #2 OVERVIEW OF COURSE S

HYPOXIC TRIMIX TO 80 and 100 METRES… ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM HYPOXIC TRIMIX represents the ultimate challenge and ultimate reward for a RAID OC technical diver. Our fourth-level technical / decompression diver course is equally suitable for twinset or sidemount divers ready to step up to the current limit of RAID’s diver training. Hypoxic divers can carry as many as four stage cylinders with decompression gases, including a travel mix and 100% oxygen. The travel mix is required because managing oxygen toxicity at the target depths calls for backgas to contain less than 18 percent oxygen, which may not be breathed on the surface. Available in two levels: 80 metres | 100 metres. Contact your local RAID Dive Centre for details. Visit RAID FREe-Learning to read more. Recommended prerequisite course: NORMOXIC TRIMIX #3 OVERVIEW OF COURSE STANDARDS This course is designed to train Students to saf

ADVANCED DECOMPRESSION: TWO DECO GASES AND 50 METRES… EPIC This course is the next logical step in RAID’s development of its technical divers. More advanced planning and careful choices around meticulous choices of gear, team responsibilities, and approach to dive sites well beyond recreational limits and skills. ADVANCED DECOMPRESSION teaches students how best to conduct a complex ascent from depth while optimising off-gassing during mandatory decompression stops using two decompression gases, including 100 percent oxygen.. This newly written program emphasizes modern technical diving skills, the most recently adopted safety protocols, equipment setup, and the pinpoint neutral buoyancy management necessary for effective decompression. RAID ADVANCED DECOMPRESSION is offered in two options: 50 metres air and nitrox | 50 metres air, nitrox, trimix, and is available to divers in twinset or sidem
