Why Continue Your Education

Earning your Open Water certification is a huge achievement, most people don’t realize how huge. And for many, that is enough to satisfy their diving desires and dreams, and you should be incredibly proud of that.
But for those who get bitten by the diving bug and want to gain additional experience, or dive into different environments, like wrecks, or caverns, or cold water, or use a different breathing gas, there are dozens of RAID specialty programs to add extra value to their diving. At RAID we also have a range of specialties that are purposely designed for Open Water divers as well as those who are more advanced.
Our specialty programs embrace your desires and needs. They are designed to fit in with your lifestyle in terms of whether SCUBA will be one of many hobbies, or if it will be your major sporting activity.
With our unique FREe-Learning platform, you can read all of our course materials and work through the quizzes BEFORE committing to enrolling on the course. Once you have made your decision, you can purchase the full access to the course and then select your dive center for your training.

Benefits

Your RAID instructor or dive center will definitely have suggestions, but right now you can find something that appeals to you and your interests in the Specialty Course list below.
RAID specialties broaden diver experience and comfort in different environmental conditions, how to use different equipment, what’s involved to dive deeper, using different gases, learning more about the marine environment and its wildlife, even learning about “store duties” such as gas mixing and compressor operations. In short, specialties will make you a better informed, more experienced diver. And that WILL increase your fun too.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites, such as minimum age, prior certification level, experience or logged underwater hours, are detailed in the course descriptions on this website, and also in the RAID General Diving Standards (RGDS) and also some specialties, like Nitrox simply require a basic diver certification (Open Water 20 Diver etc.), but others, such as Advanced Wreck Diver require more.
If in doubt, do read the RGDS or contact your local RAID dive center.

Course Content

We have courses for every level of experience and every desire, so you might also want to check out technical diving courses, professional level options, or rebreather programs.

Just like RAID‘s full open water programs, all specialties consist of online learning, quizzes and a final exam, working with an instructor in a pool or confined water and then in open water.
